Twenty-eight photographs, two recordings, and the gaps only someone who was there can fill — most of all the Ranch's own thirty years.
Thirty years of the Ranch, and a dozen unlabelled faces
This archive now runs to twenty-eight photographs, two recordings and about thirty published sources. It is still missing the room he is best known for.
In August 2026 Graham sat down and went through this site, and a batch of photographs came with him. In September he sent four typed pages of his own. Between them they closed most of what this page used to ask for: Starstruck has its hearse, the Airstream has Lake Compounce and a date, Japan has the Kyocera plaque and the award behind it, the police years have the cruiser, the paisley Telecaster has its whole story, the boats have their names, the academy has a name — Pennsylvania Military College — and Bonnie is here, in crew whites in the wheelhouse.
What is still missing is the Cadillac Ranch Restaurant's own thirty years. One photograph of Mike Ditka, and nothing else. No opening night in 1997, no headline act, no full dance floor, no Old Thunder, no bar stool racing, nothing from the fifteen months dark or the reopening.
And a good number of photographs here are still unlabelled. We do not know which figure in the band frames is Graham, which of them are the Chevrons and which the Magnums, or which room is the Music Box. Every one of those is captioned as unconfirmed because nobody has told us otherwise.
There are also things that ought to have a picture and do not. His first guitar was a Magnavox and there is no photograph of it here. Nor of the bedroom in Litchfield where he taught himself to play, nor of the 22-foot Penn Yan that ran the Great Northern Route in 1973, nor the Lady of the Sea, nor the Trojan.
If you sang at Starstruck, danced at the Ranch, worked a shift, played a set, crewed a charter, rode in a patrol car with him, or have a shoebox in a cupboard, then you have something this record does not.
Facts are as welcome as photographs. Three things are still open: the year the Plainville Starstruck opened, the name of the Memphis amusement park the Airstream came out of, and the year he bought the boat he called REALESCAPE. One person who was there could close any of them.
What do you remember?
Tell us what you have or what you know. If it is a photograph, do not attach it here. Just say what it is, and we will write back and arrange it properly.
